A Wedding Planner’s Wedding-The Wedding Dress
Hello and welcome to this week’s installment of A Wedding Planner’s Wedding. This week, we’re talking about the wedding dress! You’ll see photos of my first experience trying them on. I’ll give advice on what to do, what to wear, questions to ask and where to go! Let’s get started!
I went to a couple of shops while I was in New York. Lord knows, there are not a lot of options in St. Thomas! I made an appointment at Paisley Bridal first. They were incredible. I don’t remember the name of the lady that helped me, but she heard my style, listened to my budget concerns and chose some beautiful dresses for me to try. They made me feel like I was the only bride that mattered. Her advice was great and was honest about the way the dresses looked. I made my decisions about the dresses, and she then gave me her opinions. She didn’t make me feel like I needed to buy something. I didn’t feel like she was trying to make a sale. Again, the experience was priceless. I would recommend Paisley Bridal to anyone who asked!
I’m not one to post photos of myself much, but for the sake of the blog, I will include some photos below of my wedding dress shopping, with comments–of course.
This was by far the worst dress I tried on. It was actually the 2nd dress I tried, but the first was one of my favorites, so I will save that one. It is an absolutely beautiful wedding dress, but it makes me look about 4 sizes bigger than I actually am. Funny story: I actually texted this picture to my fiance and asked him how he liked it. He never wrote back. Silence is golden, I guess! I called him on the subway when we were going back to the hotel. He said he didn’t want to say, but it wasn’t for me. He’s adorable.
This was a nice dress, but you can see every little curve I have. I guess, in the words of Gene Belcher from Bob’s Burgers, I look like an “elegant sausage.” Since I can’t go back to New York, or anywhere else prior to the wedding, I had to make a purchase that day, or I would be ordering my wedding dress from the internet.
Now that I’m finished with this appointment, and looking back on the photos, this is my favorite. That day, it was my second favorite.
If this one had been my size, I would have purchased it that day. It’s the closest to my Pinned inspiration. It was WAY too small, however, so this is not my dress.
At the appointment, this wedding dress was my favorite. I tried it on at least 3 times. It was the one I kept it on the longest. This is NOT my dress. I loved it, but this is not the dress that I will be walking down the aisle in. Check out my advice to see why I didn’t purchase this dress in next week’s installment.
